The excitement surrounding Varanasi, one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious upcoming projects because of S.S.Rajamouli, is steadily gaining momentum. After months of speculation and silence, the film is now preparing for its next promotional milestone.

AS SOURCE BY KBP REVIEW, that the makers have locked August 9, coinciding with Mahesh Babu’s birthday, to unveil the film’s next major asset. Unlike a regular birthday poster, this one is expected to offer audiences their first real glimpse into the world of Varanasi and establish the film’s overall tone and visual identity.

While the makers have remained tight-lipped, trade circles believe the poster will reveal the thematic direction of the project rather than merely showcasing Mahesh Babu’s look.

The project has generated enormous curiosity primarily because of its reported scale. According to sources, Varanasi is being mounted on a staggering budget estimated between ₹1,200 crore and ₹1,400 crore, placing it among the most expensive Indian films ever planned.

Although the makers have not officially confirmed the figure, the reported investment has naturally raised expectations, the film is reportedly envisioned as a large-scale cinematic spectacle with extensive world-building, cutting-edge visual effects and a global production approach.

The team has spent considerable time on pre-production, concept design and visual development to ensure the film meets international standards before principal photography progresses further.

Mahesh Babu’s collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli has already made the project one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema. Rajamouli’s track record with films like Baahubali and RRR has created confidence that Varanasi will aim far beyond conventional commercial filmmaking.

The film is being designed as a worldwide event, vision by the s.s.rajamouli and International technicians, advanced VFX pipelines and extensive location planning are believed to be part of the production strategy, although several details remain under wraps.

The birthday poster could become the beginning of a long promotional campaign leading into future announcements, including character reveals, teaser assets and eventually the first official glimpse. If the poster successfully establishes the film’s History and visual style, it could significantly increase anticipation across Indian and overseas markets.

The makers are reportedly hoping to capitalize on that enthusiasm while gradually introducing audiences to the massive cinematic universe they have been developing with Indian cinema increasingly targeting global audiences, Varanasi represents another major attempt to create a franchise capable of competing internationally.

Whether the birthday reveal lives up to the enormous expectations remains to be seen, but one thing is certain the spotlight will firmly be on August 9 as audiences finally get a better understanding of what the makers have been quietly building.
