The T-Series-backed musical, reportedly titled ‘Tu Meri Zindagi Hai’, is moving ahead with Sreeleela completing her portions in Mumbai, Kartik Aaryan is also said to be more or less done with his shoot

Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela’s much awaited romantic musical with filmmaker Anurag Basu is once again moving into the spotlight. After going through multiple schedule changes and considerable speculation around its production and release, the film is now progressing towards completion, with Sreeleela having resumed shooting for her portions in Mumbai.

According to Pinkvilla information the production, Sreeleela has joined the latest Mumbai schedule and is currently completing her remaining portions. The film is being mounted on a large scale and is expected to be the more ambitious romantic musicals in the current Hindi film lineup after Blockbuster Response from saiyaara and now with Awarapan2.

For Sreeleela, the project is particularly significant as it marks her Bollywood debut opposite Kartik Aaryan.

The development also comes at an interesting point for the film because its production journey has been anything but straightforward. The project was announced with enormous expectations, especially because it brought together Kartik, one of Bollywood’s most recognisable young stars, Sreeleela, one of the biggest emerging names from the South, and Anurag Basu, a filmmaker known for blending romance, music and emotion in a very distinctive manner.

The latest Mumbai schedule is understood to be focused on Sreeleela’s remaining scenes. The actress had already shot extensively for the film earlier, but scheduling changes and creative requirements resulted in the production stretching over a longer period than initially expected.

An early behind the scenes picture shared by Kartik in 2025 had already given audiences a glimpse of their chemistry. The actor was seen with long hair and a beard while sharing a quiet moment with Sreeleela in a picturesque setting. The image immediately created curiosity around the tone and world of the film.

Interestingly, the latest development comes shortly after reports suggested that Kartik Aaryan had completed most of his work on the film.

Producer Bhushan Kumar recently indicated that the Anurag Basu directorial is “more or less complete” from Kartik’s side, although the project has taken longer to finish than originally anticipated.

This makes Sreeleela’s current schedule even more important, as the team appears to be moving towards wrapping the remaining portions and taking the film into the next stage of post-production.

The film has previously faced speculation about delays, with several reports suggesting that scheduling and creative requirements contributed to the extended production timeline. However, Anurag Basu himself had addressed the uncertainty earlier this year and made it clear that the film was still progressing as planned.

In April 2026, Basu confirmed that the film was on schedule and that the team remained committed to bringing it to cinemas during the year.

The soundtrack is being composed by Pritam, whose association with Anurag Basu goes back to several successful collaborations. Their combination has previously delivered music driven films where songs are not simply promotional additions but an integral part of the storytelling.

That is particularly relevant here because the film is being described as a large scale romantic musical. Rather than using songs merely as interruptions between dramatic sequences, the intention appears to be to make music an important part of the characters’ emotional journey.

The first glimpses of Kartik and Sreeleela together also leaned heavily into atmosphere rather than conventional commercial romance. Their scenes appeared softer and more intimate, giving the film a distinct visual identity.

At a time when Hindi cinema has increasingly leaned towards spectacle and franchise driven entertainment, a properly mounted musical romance from a filmmaker like Basu.

For Kartik, meanwhile, the project arrives after a phase in which he has been experimenting with different genres and characters. He has Naagzilla and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 among his upcoming projects, making the Basu directorial an important contrast to his larger commercial films.

As of the KBP REVIEW latest update, the film is expected to release theatrically in 2026, although a final date remains the key announcement audiences are waiting for.

What’s Next For Kartik Aaryan And Sreeleela?

Kartik has a packed lineup beyond this musical, with Naagzilla and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 already generating significant curiosity. His growing slate also comes at an important stage in his career, with the actor continuing to balance mainstream commercial films with performance oriented projects.

Sreeleela, meanwhile, is entering a crucial phase of her career. Her Bollywood debut with Anurag Basu gives her a strong platform, while she also has South Indian projects lined up, including Om Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood.
