EXCLUSIVE: ‘Ramayana’ AP/TG Distribution Rights: Dil Raju’s SVC Creations In Final Race For ₹105–120 Crore Deal?

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash starrer could be heading for another record-breaking regional distribution deal as major Telugu distributors battle for the rights

The business of Ramayana is getting bigger even before the film reaches theatres. After generating enormous buzz with its scale, cast and global release plans, the Ranbir Kapoor and Yash starrer is now witnessing an intense battle for its Andhra Pradesh and Telangana theatrical distribution rights.

According to KBP REVIEW, Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations (SVC Creations) has emerged as the frontrunner and is in the final stage of discussions for the AP/TG rights.

Another major distributor from the Telugu states is also reportedly in the race, with negotiations reportedly centred around a massive ₹105-120 crore valuation.

If the deal closes around the upper end of that range, it would underline the extraordinary confidence the Telugu trade is placing in Ramayana.

Dil Raju’s SVC Creations Emerges As Front Runner

Dil Raju is no stranger to big-ticket distribution deals, particularly in the Telugu-speaking markets. His SVC Creations has built a strong network across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, making the company a natural contender for a film of Ramayana’s scale.

Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, giving the film an unusually strong pan-India profile.

Meanwhile, the Telugu market has developed a particularly strong relationship with large-scale Indian spectacles, especially after the success of films such as Baahubali, RRR and Pushpa.

₹105-120 Crore: A Massive Number

The reported asking range of ₹105–120 crore places Ramayana to the biggest theatrical distribution bets in the Telugu states.

The comparison becomes even more interesting when we look at Yash’s Toxic. Earlier this year, SVC Creations officially acquired the AP/TG theatrical rights of Toxic for ₹120 crore, making it the biggest reported acquisition for a non Telugu origin film in the region at that time.

That deal demonstrated the confidence Dil Raju and the Telugu trade could place in a major pan-India star outside the traditional Telugu industry.

Ramayana, however, brings an entirely different proposition.

Here, the distributor is not merely betting on one superstar. The distributor is betting on a culturally familiar story, a huge ensemble, international scale and a two-part theatrical event.

If the reported Ramayana deal reaches ₹120 crore, it would once again place SVC at the centre of the biggest non-Telugu distribution bets in the Telugu states.

Why AP/TG Is So Important For ‘Ramayana’

Telugu audiences have historically shown a strong appetite for History, fantasy and large-scale spectacle films. More importantly, the region has become the strongest theatrical markets for pan-India cinema.

The presence of Yash as Ravana could provide an additional advantage.

Yash already enjoys enormous recognition among Telugu audiences following KGF and Toxic. Ranbir Kapoor also has growing visibility in the market, while the subject itself carries a familiarity that transcends language barriers.

The Global Ambition Could Push The Valuation Higher

Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios is producing the film in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, with DNEG handling the visual effects. The project is being made as a two-part epic, with Part 1 planned for 2026 and Part 2 for 2027.

The makers have also taken the film to international industry platforms. At CinemaCon, global exhibitors reportedly viewed previously unseen footage, with international theatrical executive John Fithian going as far as predicting that Ramayana could become the first Indian global theatrical blockbuster.

Reuters has also on the project’s ambition to take the Indian epic to a worldwide audience, highlighting its huge production scale and the team’s intention to make the story accessible to international viewers.

That worldwide positioning naturally increases the pressure on every regional distribution deal.
