Buchi Babu Sana’s sports drama crosses the century mark on Day 1 as Ram Charan delivers one of the biggest openings of his career

Despite mixed pre-release discussions and divided reactions to some of its promotional content, the film has opened to a thunderous response worldwide, collecting a massive ₹109.30 crore gross on its first day including premieres, making it one of the biggest openings of 2026 and another major milestone in Ram Charan’s box-office journey.

The film had already built momentum through its premiere shows, which contributed an impressive ₹21 crore gross before the official release day. That strong start was followed by a solid Day 1 performance across domestic and international markets, helping the film comfortably cross the coveted ₹100 crore mark within hours of release.

According to early trade estimates, Peddi registered an India gross of ₹65.80 crore on Day 1, while overseas territories contributed another ₹22.50 crore gross, taking the worldwide total to ₹109.30 crore gross.

The Telugu version emerged as the clear driving force behind the film’s opening.

The film collected an estimated ₹51.95 crore Telugu nett on Day 1, reaffirming Ram Charan’s massive popularity across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Hindi version, recorded a comparatively modest ₹2.95 crore nett, while the rest of India contributed around ₹0.85 crore nett, resulting in a total India nett collection of approximately ₹55.75 crore.

The strongest support came from the Telugu states;

Andhra Pradesh contributed roughly ₹30.05 crore gross on Day 1, while Telangana added another ₹23.35 crore gross, showcasing the huge anticipation surrounding the project among core audiences.

Karnataka also delivered healthy numbers with around ₹5.65 crore gross, while other Indian territories added another ₹2.25 crore gross.

The film’s premiere collections stood at approximately ₹21 crore gross, including ₹11.60 crore from Andhra Pradesh, ₹6.40 crore from Telangana, and ₹3 crore from Karnataka. These numbers translated into an estimated ₹17.80 crore nett, giving the film a significant head start before Day 1 even began.

Internationally, Peddi also managed to generate substantial revenue.

The film earned around ₹17.25 crore gross ($1.8 million) from overseas premieres alone. The official first day added another ₹5.25 crore gross ($0.55 million), taking the overseas total to approximately ₹22.50 crore gross ($2.35 million).

While the overseas response may not have reached RRR – level heights, it remains a strong result for a standalone sports-action drama and Proves Ram Charan’s growing global market presence.

The opening validates the strong anticipation surrounding the project despite some concerns that emerged during the promotional campaign.

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi combines sports drama, village politics, action, and emotional storytelling on a large scale. The film also marks a significant collaboration between Ram Charan and Academy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman, whose music and background score have been among the film’s major talking points.

While the opening day numbers are undoubtedly impressive, the real challenge will be sustaining momentum over the coming days. Positive audience reception and strong word of mouth could help the film maintain healthy collections through its first weekend and beyond.

Much of the early audience praise has centered around Ram Charan’s performance, the emotional core of the story, and the film’s climactic portions. Several viewers have highlighted the final act as one of the film’s strongest assets, which could prove crucial in driving repeat viewership.

For Ram Charan, the opening is another reminder of the enormous fanbase he commands after the historic success of RRR. The actor has consistently remained among the most bankable stars in Indian cinema, and Peddi’s Day 1 performance Holds up that position.

The coming weekdays will ultimately determine the film’s long term box-office verdict, but one thing is already clear:

Peddi has delivered a powerful opening punch.

Crossing ₹109.30 crore worldwide gross on Day 1 is no small achievement, and the film has firmly positioned itself among the biggest openers of this Month.
