What Worked for Mirzapur The Movie?
The franchise’s enormous audience base remains the film’s biggest advantage. The movie brings familiar characters from the series to the big screen while introducing new conflicts and a larger cinematic scale.
Ravi Kishan’s Babban Babua has also emerged as one of the major talking points around the film. Reports indicate that the makers became so impressed by his performance that they worried the character could overshadow some of the franchise’s established leads.
At the same time, the film has generated discussion beyond its box-office numbers. Veteran columnist Shobhaa De recently shared a negative reaction after watching the movie, showing that audiences have not responded to the theatrical release unanimously despite its strong commercial performance.
Nevertheless, the commercial picture remains strong. Mirzapur The Movie has crossed ₹200 crore worldwide within its first week, marking a significant achievement for an OTT-originated franchise making the transition to cinemas.
