SS Rajamouli’s Film Could Be A Visual Feast – Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra starrer is already travelling from Antarctica to Ancient Rome, while a reported prehistoric sequence could become its biggest highlights
SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi has been creating curiosity with every new update, but the latest reported detail could take the excitement to another level.
According to KBP REVIEW reports doing the rounds, the Mahesh Babu led epic adventure may feature a nearly 30-minute sequence set around dinosaurs and the Cretaceous Period.
The scale of Varanasi already looks extraordinary. Rajamouli has revealed that the film travels from Varanasi to Antarctica and Africa, then goes back in time to Ancient Rome before eventually returning to Varanasi.

The director has also confirmed that he has completed around 80% of the shoot. The Dinosaur Sequence Could Be Something Special The reported Cretaceous Period portion looks particularly intriguing because it could take Varanasi into a completely different visual territory.
While the makers have not officially confirmed the reported 30-minute dinosaur sequence, the possibility fits the film’s larger time-travelling concept. A prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs, ancient landscapes and large scale survival action could give Rajamouli an opportunity to create something rarely attempted in Indian mainstream cinema.
If the sequence actually runs close to 30 minutes, it would not simply serve as a brief cameo or visual gimmick. It could function as a major chapter within the film and potentially become its biggest theatrical attractions.
The film has also made history by becoming the first Indian feature to shoot sequences in Antarctica, including locations around the Ross Ice Shelf.
Then comes the film’s Ramayana connection.Writer Vijayendra Prasad has revealed that Varanasi contains a 30-minute sequence depicting the battle between Lord Rama and Kumbhakarna. He described the sequence as something that would leave audiences “spellbound.”
Recent reports have further claimed that Mahesh Babu appears as Lord Rama in this section, with Lord Hanuman and the Vanara Sena also featuring in the sequence.
Rajamouli has said that an emotional father-son story lies beneath the grand adventure, with the film combining the wilderness of Africa, the cold of Antarctica, Ramayana History, natural disasters and fantastical elements.
That emotional foundation could prove crucial. With Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran leading the cast, the film needs to balance its enormous visual ambition with a strong human story.
Interestingly, Rajamouli has also confirmed that Varanasi will work as a standalone film.
The film also targets international audiences with the makers are targeting a release across around 120 countries and 50 languages, underlining the global ambition behind the project.
