The ambitious 2027 spectacle is reportedly targeting 120 countries, with over 1,500 voice artists being considered to preserve the actors performances across languages
SS Rajamouli is once again thinking beyond the conventional boundaries of Indian cinema. His upcoming Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is being prepared for an enormous global rollout across around 50 languages and 120 countries.
The film is scheduled to arrive worldwide on April 7, 2027, and the scale of its international strategy is already creating major industry buzz.
What makes the latest development particularly interesting is that Rajamouli is reportedly not relying on AI-generated or synthetic voices for the different language versions. Instead, the filmmaker wants real voice performers to carry the emotions, personality and intent of Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran into every market.
According to the KBP REVIEW reports, the team is expected to sample the work of more than 1,500 voice artists before finalising voices for the film’s numerous language versions. For Rajamouli, dubbing is apparently not being treated as a simple translation exercise.
50 Languages, 120 Countries – The Global Push
The film is expected to be presented in major Indian languages such as Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali and Kannada, while international-language versions reportedly include French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Japanese and Korean, among others.
The film is reportedly expected to reach audiences in around 120 countries, making its international footprint one of the largest ever attempted for an Indian film.
Why Rajamouli Is Avoiding AI Voices
The decision to use human voice artists instead of AI is arguably the most fascinating part of this entire development. For a conventional dubbed film, the priority is often simply to translate dialogue accurately and synchronise it with the original performance.

Mahesh Babu’s voice, delivery and pauses contribute to the character’s personality. The same applies to Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
If those elements disappear in another language, audiences may understand the story but could lose some of the performance’s emotional impact.
A Film Designed For The Big Screen
The film is also prepared for premium theatrical formats, including IMAX, with Rajamouli previously announcing the use of the 1.43:1 IMAX aspect ratio for portions of the movie. That makes the project particularly suited to the kind of large-format theatrical presentation that can attract audiences beyond traditional Indian cinema markets.
Can It Really Deliver A ₹500 Crore Worldwide Opening?
Naturally, the latest announcement has already triggered extremely aggressive box-office predictions online, with some fans suggesting that a ₹500 crore worldwide opening day could be possible.
That number, however, should currently be treated as fan speculation rather than a trade estimate.A 120-country release and 50-language strategy can dramatically expand a film’s potential audience, but the number of countries alone does not automatically translate into a ₹500 crore opening.
Ticket prices, screen count, local market strength, advance booking, premium formats, competition and audience reception will ultimately determine the actual result. What can be said with confidence is that Varanasi is being prepared to maximise its opening footprint like very few Indian films before it.
The Road To April 7, 2027With Varanasi scheduled for April 7, 2027, there is still considerable time before the film reaches theatres. The makers will have to sustain the enormous anticipation while gradually revealing more about the story, characters, action and world.

‘Gunmaaster G9’ Teaser To Play Before Yash’s ‘Toxic’ In Theatres

Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming action thriller Gunmaaster G9 is already preparing its theatrical promotional campaign, with the film’s teaser reportedly set to be screened before Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups.
The teaser will play as a separate theatrical presentation rather than being attached directly to the Toxic print.
The move gives Gunmaaster G9 an opportunity to benefit from the enormous theatrical audience expected for Toxic, while allowing the makers to introduce the film’s world well ahead of its scheduled November 27, 2026 release.
The film stars Emraan Hashmi, Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana, with Abhishek Singh being introduced. Directed by Aditya Datt and produced by Deepak Mukut, Hunar Mukut and Sangeeta Ahir, the project also marks another collaboration between Emraan Hashmi, Himesh Reshammiya and Aditya Datt.
