The makers are planning up for a carefully timed promotional campaign, with music expected to lead the next phase before Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday and the theatrical trailer

There is a very deliberate silence around King right now and that silence could soon turn into Bollywood’s biggest promotional storms of 2026.

Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited action thriller has already created enormous curiosity with its title reveal and first look, but the makers have so far revealed only a small part of what they have been building. With the film locked for a December 24, 2026 theatrical release, the countdown has now entered a crucial phase.

The First Big Move: Music Rights Around ₹50 Crore,The immediate focus is on the film’s music. Recent reports suggest that King has generated a major bidding battle for its music rights, with the value reaching close to ₹50 crore. One report claimed Zee Music has acquired the music rights at that level, although the deal has also been discussed in trade circles as a major high value music-rights development.

Sachin Jigar are composing the songs, while Anirudh Ravichander is handling the background score. It marks Sachin Jigar’s first collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan and director Siddharth Anand, while Anirudh reunites with SRK after Jawan for the background score.

That combination is particularly interesting. Sachin Jigar bring a completely different musical identity to the soundtrack, while Anirudh’s presence on the score immediately raises expectations for the action portions and larger theatrical moments.

The duo have already spoken about working on King, including the experience of watching Shah Rukh Khan lip sync to their compositions. Sachin-Jigar have also discussed how they worked within a film where the songs and background score are being handled by different composers.

Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday has become almost an unofficial promotional festival for his films, and King already established that pattern last year.

On November 2, 2025, coinciding with SRK’s 60th birthday, the makers unveiled the film’s title and first-look material. The superstar appeared in a rugged salt-and-pepper avatar, immediately giving audiences their first impression of the character.

Now, there discussions are closely watching November 2, 2026, There is speculation that the makers could once again use SRK’s birthday to unveil the next major asset. It could be a proper teaser, a motion poster, or another heavily stylised character focused reveal.

Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but the timing makes sense considering the film’s December release. And this time, audiences are expecting much more than cryptic dialogue and a single look.

The next asset could finally provide a clearer glimpse into the world of King particularly Shah Rukh Khan’s character, the mentor protégé relationship with Suhana Khan and the film’s overall action-thriller setting.

Two Different Faces Of Shah Rukh Khan? One of the most intriguing elements surrounding King is the possibility of Shah Rukh Khan being presented in different stages or appearances within the story.

The first look already established his rugged, battle-hardened, salt and pepper appearance. The film’s reported timeline structure has also fuelled curiosity about how the characters evolve and how the younger timeline connects with the present day narrative.

If the makers decide to showcase more of the character, audiences could finally get a better understanding of why the film has been described as a high scale action thriller rather than a conventional gangster drama.

Suhana Khan’s Big-Screen Debut Gets Its Real Introduction, While Suhana Khan has already appeared in The Archies, King marks the much bigger moment of her theatrical debut, and more importantly, she shares the screen with her father.

The film reportedly presents Shah Rukh Khan as a mentor figure to Suhana’s character, creating a relationship that could become the emotional backbone of the action narrative. Current film listings describe King as a story involving a mentor and protégé navigating dangerous circumstances, although the makers have kept the detailed plot under wraps.

This is why the first official footage of Suhana alongside SRK will be one of the most closely watched elements of the upcoming campaign.

The makers don’t necessarily need to reveal much. Even a few seconds establishing their chemistry, dynamic and contrasting characters could generate enormous conversation.

Another major promotional weapon waiting in the wings is Abhishek Bachchan.

The film brings him into an antagonist role opposite Shah Rukh Khan, adding another layer to what is already an unusually star-heavy cast. Alongside SRK, Suhana and Abhishek, the ensemble reportedly includes Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma and others.

But despite the enormous cast, the makers have deliberately kept several characters away from the promotional material.

The ₹50 Crore European Action Sequence, If there is one sequence that could dominate the theatrical trailer, it is reportedly the massive European action block mounted at a cost of around ₹50 crore.

The sequence was filmed over approximately 10 days in Europe and featured Shah Rukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. As the Reports described it the film’s major action set-pieces, reinforcing the scale Siddharth Anand is attempting with King.

The first look created intrigue. The music can create recall. But a properly cut theatrical trailer featuring SRK, Abhishek and the film’s biggest action sequences could turn King from a highly anticipated release into a genuine event film.

As KBP REVIEW Reports, the second half of November as the likely window for the full theatrical trailer, roughly four weeks before the film reaches cinemas.

Again, the exact date has not been officially announced, so this should be treated as trade expectation rather than confirmation.

A November birthday asset can restart the conversation. The music can establish the film’s sound. Then the theatrical trailer can bring together the action, characters, emotional stakes and scale in one major package.

The makers have the option of using music video launches, international promotional events, city tours, interviews and fan-driven campaigns to maintain momentum right up to Christmas.

The release itself is already positioned as the biggest Hindi film events of the year. The film remains locked for December 24, 2026, despite speculation about a possible delay. It is also heading into a crowded Christmas corridor alongside major international releases.

After the worldwide success of Pathaan and Jawan, King is being mounted with the expectation that its theatrical appeal will extend well beyond the traditional Hindi market. Yash Raj Films has been reported as handling the international distribution, adding another major industry player to the film’s global push.

The film has been shot across multiple locations, including Mumbai, Warsaw and Cape Town. A planned Dubai desert schedule involving Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan and Anil Kapoor was eventually shifted to Mumbai because of safety concerns amid the West Asia conflict. The production team recreated the sequence in Mumbai rather than compromising the schedule.

Instead of waiting indefinitely for an overseas location to become viable, the team has continued building large-scale sets to preserve the intended visual experience.

It is this combination of international locations, massive sets and elaborate action blocks that has led to reports describing King as one of Siddharth Anand’s most ambitious projects.

Akshay Kumar believes that even the wildest fantasy stories need to follow their own internal logic.

While promoting Bhooth Bangla, the actor explained that audiences should understand the reasoning behind a character’s powers, transformation and actions, even when the story deals with supernatural or impossible situations.

Speaking to IANS, Akshay pointed out that even comic-book stories establish an explanation for how a character receives powers or why a transformation happens. For him, fantasy does not mean completely abandoning logic.

Director Priyadarshan agreed with the idea while explaining the creative approach behind Bhooth Bangla. The filmmaker said the film uses elements of Indian folklore, mythology and scientific concepts to give its supernatural world an internal explanation.

The story revolves around a man who inherits a haunted palace and plans to host his sister’s wedding there, only to encounter supernatural forces along the way.

Interestingly, Priyadarshan has also clarified that Bhooth Bangla is not connected to the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. While the film reunites Akshay and Priyadarshan after 14 years and combines horror with comedy, the director has described it as a separate fantasy story rather than a continuation of the earlier psychological thriller.

The film brings together Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi and others, with Priyadarshan returning to Hindi cinema with a story rooted in fantasy, folklore and supernatural beliefs.

Priyadarshan’s larger point is simple: audiences may accept the impossible, but they still want to understand why it happens.
