Haiwaan Box Office Collection Day-Wise: Akshay Kumar-Saif Ali Khan Starrer Struggles To Find Momentum

Priyadarshan’s crime thriller opens below expectations and remains under ₹10 crore in India after five days

The much awaited reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan has failed to deliver the box-office numbers that the combination promised. Directed by Priyadarshan, Haiwaan opened in cinemas on September 11, but the film has struggled to build momentum through its opening weekend and the first few weekdays.

According to the latest KBP REVIEW tracking, Haiwaan has collected ₹8.75 crore net in India in five days, while its India gross stands at approximately ₹10.46 crore. The film has also earned around ₹3.15 crore overseas, taking its reported worldwide gross to approximately ₹13.61 crore.

The film has remained below the ₹1 crore mark on both Monday and Tuesday, making the next few days increasingly important for its theatrical run.

Haiwaan Day 1 Collection: ₹3 Crore

Haiwaan began its theatrical journey on Friday with an estimated ₹3 crore net in India. The opening looked slow considering the presence of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, who returned together after a long gap.

The film recorded around 11% overall occupancy on its opening day. Evening and night shows performed better, but that improvement did not push the film into a strong opening range.

The film also collected approximately ₹1 crore from overseas markets on Day 1, taking its worldwide gross to around ₹4.60 crore.

Day 2: ₹2.50 Crore

Saturday brought some improvement in audience turnout, but Haiwaan failed to deliver the kind of growth that films normally expect from Friday to Saturday.

The film collected approximately ₹2.50 crore net on Day 2, taking its two-day India total to ₹5.50 crore.

Occupancy improved to around 14%, but the film continued to perform relatively quietly across theatres. Its worldwide gross reached approximately ₹8.60 crore after two days.

Day 3: ₹1.85 Crore

Sunday turned into another disappointing day for Haiwaan. Instead of benefiting from the weekend, the film witnessed another drop and collected around ₹1.85 crore net.

The three-day India total therefore reached approximately ₹7.35 crore. The film recorded a Sunday drop of around 26% from Saturday, according to the available tracking. Overall occupancy stood at approximately 14%, suggesting that the film had not generated enough word of mouth during its opening weekend.

Haiwaan closed its first weekend at roughly ₹7.35 crore net, a modest figure for a film featuring two established stars and a veteran filmmaker like Priyadarshan.

Day 4: Monday Test Goes Against The Film

Monday presented the first major test for Haiwaan, and the film failed to show the hold required to build a healthy theatrical run. The film collected approximately ₹70 lakh net on Day 4, taking its India total to around ₹8.05 crore, according to the initial tracking.

Occupancy fell to approximately 10%. The sharp weekday correction showed that Haiwaan struggled to retain its weekend audience.

For a film relying heavily on the star power of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, the Monday trend offered little encouragement.

Day 5: ₹70 Lakh, Tuesday failed to bring any major improvement

Haiwaan added approximately ₹70 lakh net on Day 5 from around 2,976 shows, taking its India net collection to ₹8.75 crore. The film’s India gross currently stands at approximately ₹10.46 crore, while overseas earnings have reached around ₹3.15 crore.

That takes the reported worldwide total to approximately ₹13.61 crore. Interestingly, Tuesday remained almost flat compared with Monday. Discounted ticket pricing on Tuesday appears to have helped the film avoid another significant drop, but the film still failed to register meaningful growth.

Why Is Haiwaan Struggling? The biggest challenge for Haiwaan appears to be the lack of strong audience momentum after its opening day.

The film entered theatres with several advantages – Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Priyadarshan and the curiosity surrounding their reunion but those factors have not translated into sustained footfalls.

Mirzapur: The Movie continues to attract audiences, while Hanuman Ansh has emerged as a major surprise performer. This crowded theatrical landscape has made it even harder for Haiwaan to establish itself.

Reviews and audience reactions have remained mixed. While some viewers have appreciated the performances and action, others have criticised the pacing and overall execution.

The film also carries the added expectations of being an official Hindi remake of Priyadarshan’s Malayalam thriller Oppam, which gives audiences familiar with the original another point of comparison.

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan Reunion Fails To Create Expected Impact

The duo last appeared together in Tashan in 2008, making Haiwaan an important reunion for fans who remember their earlier collaborations. However, the box-office response so far suggests that nostalgia alone has not been enough to bring audiences into theatres.

While Haiwaan has struggled to find its audience, Mirzapur: The Movie has continued to dominate the current theatrical landscape. The Ali Fazal-led film has maintained strong momentum into its second week and has reportedly moved close to the ₹200 crore mark in India, putting additional pressure on newer releases competing for the same audience pool.

The contrast between the two films highlights how unpredictable the current box office has become. Established stars and major combinations can generate curiosity, but sustained audience engagement ultimately determines a film’s theatrical trajectory once the opening weekend ends. For Haiwaan, that test has arrived much sooner than expected.
