Spirit Is Being Made for an Adult Audience
The biggest confirmed development surrounding Spirit remains its expected A certificate. Vanga recently addressed the project while speaking at the trailer launch of Roman chakam and made it clear that the film’s violent content makes an adult certification unsurprising.
This revelation immediately sets expectations for the kind of theatrical experience Vanga wants to create. His previous directorials, Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, explored controversial themes and intense characterisation, while Animal pushed his filmmaking into an even larger action drama space.
Prabhas and Vanga Could Show Audiences a New Side of the Actor

The description of the film as something audiences may have “never seen before” reflects the larger anticipation surrounding the collaboration. However, audiences should treat claims about the exact level of gore, controversial scenes and the complete storyline as expectations.
The confirmed details remain clear: Prabhas plays a police officer, while the makers are mounting the film as a large scale action drama. The adult certification now offers the strongest indication yet that Vanga intends to retain a darker and more intense edge.
Spirit also brings Prabhas together with Triptii Dimri, who has emerged the most discussed young Hindi-film actresses in recent years.

The romantic and dramatic portions of the film, but audiences should not consider those details confirmed until the team officially reveals them.
The combination of Vanga’s intense storytelling, Prabhas screen presence and Dimri’s growing popularity makes their pairing the film’s biggest talking points.
Spirit Has Already Completed Around 40 Per Cent of Its Shoot
Another significant update came directly from Vanga in July. During an interaction at the Telangana Talent Association convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, the filmmaker revealed that the team had completed around 40 per cent of Spirit.
The update arrived after several rumours suggested that the film could face a delay. Vanga’s comments indicated that production continued to move forward and that the team still planned to release the film in March 2027.
The makers subsequently reaffirmed the theatrical schedule. Spirit currently targets a worldwide theatrical release on March 5, 2027.
Vanga confirmed the release date again in August, putting another round of postponement speculation to rest. The filmmaker stated there was no doubt about the March 5 release.
Spirit vs Varanasi: Two Major Indian Films Arrive Weeks Apart
The March release places Spirit close to another major Indian project, SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, which stars Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Spirit will arrive on March 5, while Varanasi will release on April 7, leaving roughly 37 days between the two films. Vanga recently addressed the proximity of the releases and acknowledged the scale of Rajamouli’s project, even calling Varanasi the bigger film.
Rajamouli’s film promises a massive adventure spectacle, while Vanga positions Spirit as a darker, adult-oriented action drama.

The gap between their release dates should give both films enough room to establish their theatrical runs rather than creating a direct box-office clash.
Not Every Rumoured Name Is Part of Spirit
The scale of Spirit has also generated a constant stream of casting rumours. Names such as Korean star Don Lee, Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi and veteran actor Prakash Raj have been linked to the project at various points.
The production team has since clarified that these names do not form part of the confirmed cast. Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga reportedly stated that neither Don Lee nor Prakash Raj is involved, while earlier speculation surrounding Chiranjeevi has also failed to translate into confirmed casting.
This clarification matters because Spirit has generated so much online speculation that unofficial casting information can easily appear like an official announcement.
The currently reported principal cast includes Prabhas, Triptii Dimri and Vivek Oberoi, with Aishwarya Desai also listed in the project.
Could Spirit Become Vanga’s Most Controversial Film Yet?
The film combines Prabhas, Vanga, an adult certification, intense violence and a police-action setting. That combination has already created significant anticipation.
Vanga has never avoided controversial characterisation and the A certificate suggests that he could once again pursue an uncompromising storytelling approach.
